Dial-Up Account
A dial-up account uses the modem in your
computer to dial in to the Rush computing
network through a telephone line. To apply
for a Rush Dial-up Account, you must contact
the Rush Information Services Department
at (312) 942-HELP or HELP@rush.edu.
If you are at a computer within the Medical
Center or University, you can apply online
at http://iris.rush.edu/helpdesk/index.html.
The Rush Dial-up Account is free. However,
you do have to pay your telephone company
for any connection charges that apply while
you are using the telephone line. Remember
that using your computer’s modem is
just like dialing the telephone. The Rush
Computing Network is within the 312 area
code.
When they have processed your account,
Information Services will e-mail you your
user name, password, and the telephone number
to use for the remote connection. If you
need assistance configuring your computer,
please contact the Information Services
Department.
If you do not know how to set up a dial-up
connection, there is a free disk that you
can pick up from the Information Services
Department Help Desk which will help configure
your computer. We also have a configuration
handout online at www.lib.rush.edu/library/pdf/DialConfig.pdf.
