What is Rescriptor ?
Rescriptor belongs to a class of drugs called non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Rescriptor is used in combination with other HIV medications for the treatment of HIV infection. In order for Rescriptor to work effectively it MUST be taken in combination with other HIV medications.
How does Rescriptor work ?
Rescriptor binds to a very specific HIV enzyme which interferes with the viruses ability to replicate. When Rescriptor is taken in combination with other HIV medications the goal is to prevent the virus from further weakening the immune system. If Rescriptor is effective then you should expect to see an increase in T-cells (CD4 immune cells) and decrease in HIV viral load. Not everybody responds to Rescriptor, however you can improve the chance that Rescriptor will work by taking all your medications everyday.
What are the potential side effects of Rescriptor ?
Headache, nausea, diarrhea, and rash (report any rash to your medical provider).
What does Rescriptor look like ?
Rescriptor is available as a white 100 mg tablet that has U 3761 stamped on one side and a white 200 mg tablet that has "Rescriptor 200" marked on one side.
How should Rescriptor be taken ?
The recommended dose is 400 mg three times a day, some medical providers may prescribe Rescriptor 600 mg twice a day. Rescriptor can also be prescribed with protease inhibitors (although not very often) in which the dose is quite variable.
