Norvir belongs to a class of drugs called protease inhibitors which are used to treat HIV infection.
Norvir must be taken in combination with other HIV medications, in fact Norvir is often given in combination with other protease
inhibitors because of the favorable effect Norvir has on these drugs.
How does Norvir work ?
Norvir is seldom used by tiself, instead it is used in combination with other protease inhibitors. Norvir has the ability to inhibit the metabolism
of protease inhibitors resulting in higher blood levels of these drugs. This may provide great anti-viral activity.
What does Norvir look like ?
Norvir is a soft-gel white capsule with the manufacturer’s (Abbott) logo and GS/100 printed on one side.
What are the potential side effects of Norvir ?
The higher the dose of Norvir the more likely a person may experience side effects.
Side effects that can occur are diarrhea, stomach discomfort, numbness around the mouth and lips, and weakness/fatigue. These side effects typically occur when a person starts Norvir and often improve after two to four weeks. Norvir can also increase cholesterol and triglycerides
How should Norvir be stored ?
It is recommended to store Norvir capsules in the refrigerator, however Norvir capsules may be
kept at room temperature for no longer than one month. If capsules are kept in the refrigerator they are good until the expiration date on the bottle.

YES!!! Please inform your medical provider or pharmacist of ALL medications you are taking including those medications that do not require a prescription.
Ritonavir can have serious drug interactions with other medications.
